History The Dales United Reformed Church was formed in 1986 by an amalgamation of the Albion Church, located at the bottom of Sneinton Road and The Parkdale United Reformed Church in Bakersfield. The coming together was necessary for both Churches as both had their problems at the time. The Albion Church building was in need of much repair and the cost was too great for the Church to bear. The building was sold to Macedon House, a refuge for the needy. Parkdale Church was a different situation, they had lots of children and too few helpers, with organisations including Scouts, Cubs and Guides, which at the time were flourishing. The Albion had a Boys Brigade group and a Music and Drama Group. The Parkdale Church building was more modern than the Albion and although it needed money spending on it was in much better condition. The sale of the Albion building allowed these repairs to take place. Various repairs were carried out, the hall was refurbished and the gardens were landscaped with the aid of a grant from the City Council. The music group "Interlude"! was in its infancy at the time of the merger, but quickly grew from strength to strength and now not only plays for the Church services also takes services at other United Reformed Churches around Nottingham.
