Calverton & Gedling Art Group The Art-Group was formed in the 1980’s for the benefit of the people of these areas. Although the group started at the Calverton village hall, over the years the hall was not used very often by the village & became very dilapidated. The news came that the council intended to sell the place for development, so we started to look for other premises. By 2008, more people were coming from Carlton & Bakersfield area and the Dales URC was looked at, it was decided it was very fit for the place to come and be artistic. We meet on a Monday morning 9.30am – 12noon Mediums used by the members are Acrylics, Oils, Watercolour, Water Colour Pencils and Pastels. A professional tutor visits the group every three weeks and is available for help and advice to all members, Membership fee is paid once every term, approx. £20 per term. We have had exhibitions in Arnold and Burton Joyce Libraries. The group is very friendly and the art work is very accomplished. We look forward to meeting new members. |
